Oscoda keeps rolling after 74-64 victory (Recap)
Oscoda and Whittemore-Prescott are both enjoying very successful seasons as The Owls came in at 10-3 while The Cardinals at 8-5.
The first quarter the teams were getting a feel for each other as both teams traded buckets back and forth but The Cardinals ability to break the press from Oscoda gave a 25-20 lead after the first quarter with Kyle Colton getting 10 of his 26 on the night in the first.
The second quarter The Owls took command and never looked back. Thanks to a great defensive effort and outburst by freshman Owen Franklin the Owls held the Cardinals to just seven 2nd quarter points to take a 37-32 lead into the locker room.
The second half remained close the whole way as the Cardinals wouldn’t go away as Colton continued to dominate and score but Grant Huebel also dominated as most the first half he was scoring from the interior he moved out to the wing the second half and continued to knock down big shots as the Owls pulled away a 74-64 victory over Whittemore-Prescott.
Oscoda was led by Huebel with 27 points, Franklin 13 and Travis Lamrock 12. For Whittemore-Prescott Colton had 26, while Bobby Maxwell and Dana Thorson were both in double digits with 11 and 10.
The win improves Oscoda to 11-3 and still in the hunt for the North Star League Title chasing two games from The Hillman Tigers who they meet next Tuesday. Their next game is home Friday against Mio (8-4).
Whittemore falls to 8-6 but have a chance to bounce back on the road Friday as they travel up to Rodgers City.
