North Farmington joins The D Zone Rising Team Tip-off Classic
Division 1 state runners-up North Farmington has replaced Romulus Summit in the inaugural The DZone Rising Teams Tip-Off Classic.
The Raiders suffered heavy losses to last year's squad with Landon Williams (Niagara), Tyler Spratt (Cleveland State) and Dylan Smith (Davenport) all gone. However, a bevy of quick, explosive guards are now ready to step up.
Robert Smith (5-10) has picked up some college offers as a great senior leader and strong point guard. Avi Meltser (6-0) is a 3-point shooter with athletic upside, and Brandon Jackson (6-2) brings size and athleticism to the backcourt. Freshman Troy Waldron Jr. (6-0) is highly regarded as a scorer and playmaker. This team has gone from elite size to elite speed.
North Farmington will face Hamtramck, another well-coached team that will feature a guard-heavy starting lineup. This game could turn into a track meet.
The North Farmington and Hamtramck game is currently scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m. on December 8 at Auburn Hills Avondale High School.
