Game and Prospects Recap from Catholic Central and De La Salle (Story)
Detroit Catholic Central's Boys Bowl came down to the wire between them and De La Salle. The 2 teams knew they would play each other next week in the Prep Bowl for the CHSL Championship so neither team was too extravagant with their play-calling. CC built a 10-0 lead thanks to a Marco Genrich QB sneak touchdown run, DLS answered a TD of their own before halftime but neither team didn't really move the ball in the 2nd half.
We'll break down their performances below:
Catholic Central:
2019 DT Lucas Hendershot was near unblockable in the interior part of the line of scrimmage. Hendershot only got stronger as the game went on and the Pilots couldn't stop him. Hendershot holds an offer from D1-FCS program, Butler.
2020 OT Zach Carey is the Shamrocks LT and looked solid at 6'7 250 lbs, Carey has a high ceiling at the position. CC's left side was for the most part 100% protected with Carey and big 75 Adler.
2019 OG Kellen Adler is a 6'3 290 lbs lineman who is physical, has a nasty side, and blocks very well. He holds FCS offers from Dayton and Morehead State.
2019 OLB Samih Beydoun is a 6' 220 lbs player who moves extremely well and is physically put together. He's recently picked up a preferred walk-on from Colorado State and an offer from D2 program Northern Michigan. On Sunday he forced constant pressure and put his hand on the turf to cause havoc on the Pilots.
2019 QB Marco Genrich we didn't expect to play with a cast on his wrist but he did and he turned out being the difference in this game. He had the game-winning touchdown run, a few other key runs, he overthrew some receivers as he's been out the past few weeks, but he also had some very well thrown passes which were dropped.
2019 CB/WR Parker Bohland has stepped up big-time for the Pilots this year. He played good when we seen them play Brother Rice earlier this year and he had a very nice tip-toe interception on the sideline and was a key receiving target on offense. Bohland is 5'9 160 lbs.
De La Salle:
2019 CB/WR Josh DeBerry is the #38 ranked prospect in the state and performed for the most part very with the Pilots lone touchdown which he took a hit from a Safety who crashed down hard and remained balanced and ran in for a touchdown. DeBerry had several very nice PBU's as well, one being on 4th down.
2019 OG/DT Danny Motowski is the #43 ranked 2019 prospect and is headed to Central Michigan. Motowski had a very good game on the inside of the line of scrimmage as they for the most part shut down Catholic Central's normally strong running game.
2019 OLB Devin Campbell is a 6' 208 lbs OLB prospect who had some nice tackles in space for DLS and forced pressure on blitzes.
2020 OT Grant Toutant is a towering 6'7 292 lbs prospect who was offered by Wisconsin the day before the game. Toutant moves well for his size and will continue to fill up his frame.
2019 DL Mike McGinnity as expected would cause some issues for CC's defense. He was in the backfield a lot and is a player with very good pass rushing abilities. The 6' 230 lbs DL holds an offer from Stetson.
2019 OT Chris Cominos is a 6'2 265 lbs Left Tackle for the Pilots who got better as the game went on. He's not a prototype Tackle prospect and we would project him to move to the inside because he moves well and has a frame that can add much more weight.
