Overview: Muskegon is the only team in the Top 25 at #2 that about sums up D3 for a few weeks.
Round 1 Summary: 3 cross-town rivalries highlighted the first round which we'll review below and Cedar Springs pulled off another huge upset over #13 East Grand Rapids.
Upsets: #45 Cedar Springs can't quite stay consistent besides when it comes to beating state powers as they upset #13 East Grand Rapids on the road, 41-40. Zeeland West upset Zeeland East 42-27. East won their week 9 meeting, 28-8.
What to look forward to in Round 2: #2 Muskegon hosts Zeeland West, the winner plays DeWitt vs. Cedar Springs.
Harper Creek beat Coldwater for the 2nd time this year, earning a District Championship with Stevensville-Lakeshore.
East Lansing had no issues with Tecumseh. EL will face a lower tiered CAAC opponent in Haslett who escaped Parma Western by the score of 31-29.
On the bottom side of the bracket, Divine Child had little issues with Cody. They'll host Redford Thurston who beat Romulus for the 2nd time this year.
In a battle of Downriver League vs. Huron League, they split. Gibraltar Carlson beat New Boston Huron 29-19, they'll face Huron League foe Riverview who had little problems with Trenton.
In the 2nd of two Flint Metro League games (Fenton vs. Flushing in D2), it will be Linden hosting Ortonville Brandon. Linden beat Bay City Central 35-0 while Brandon kicked a field goal as the clock expired to beat Avondale 45-44. Linden won their week 7 meeting by the score of 53-0.
Warren Woods-Tower beat Hazel Park in MAC vs. OAA crossover to face another OAA team in #27 Farmington Hills Harrison who beat up on Fitzgerald.
