Cranbrook stopped by Ann Arbor Greenhills 39-32; takes first loss of the season.
The Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook Cranes lost to the Ann Arbor Greenhills Gryphons 39-32 in CHSL action on Saturday. The loss moves Cranbrook to 2-1 on the season, while Greenhills climbs to 1-0.
Greenhills junior Finn Klein had 17 points to lead all scorers. Sophomore John Kersh scored 9 points to lead Cranbrook in the loss.
Cranbrook got off to a fast start, with senior Graeme Gump hitting a big 3-point shot as the Cranes established the early lead. But good perimeter shooting by the Gryphons narrowed the lead. Clutch free throws by Klein gave Greenhills the lead.
Cranbrook trailed 18-14 at the half.
The second half saw the Cranes come alive, with Kersh hitting a 3-pointer and field goal to give an offensive spark. But Greenhills remained ahead, with Finn countering with several 3-pointers to put the game out of reach for the Cranes.
