Cranbrook gets by Liggett on the road 65-59; Garner leads all scorers with 23 points in the win.
The Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook Cranes defeated the Gross Pointe Woods University Liggett Knights 65-59 in CHSL action. The win moves Cranbrook to 2-0 on the season, while Liggett falls to 0-1.
Cranbrook senior Cam Garner had 23 points in the victory to lead all scorers. Senior Cameron Strong and Senior Michael Clark each scored 16 to lead the Knights.
Liggett’s got off to a fast start, with seniors Strong and Clack leading the way with precise perimeter shooting. But free throws by Cranbrook sophomore John Kersh and 3-point shots by senior Miles Pistner kept the Cranes in the game.
Cranbrook trailed 34-30 at the half.
The second half saw the Cranes defense come alive, limiting the Knights scoring and shot selection. A big push from Garner put Cranbrook ahead, while key rebounds and points in the paint from senior Bryce Hall put the game out of reach for the Knights.
Cranbrook returns home to host Ann Arbor Green Hills, while Liggett will host Detroit Cristo Rey in continued CHSL action.
